FOR FILIPINOS IN SRI LANKA AND MALDIVES – APPLICATIONS FOR MRPS AT HOME OFFICE 264 times read
Whenever Filipinos in Sri Lanka and Maldives are in the Philippines, they may apply for a Machine Readable Passport (MRP) in Manila or in any of 15 Regional Consular Offices in the Philippines.
As previously announced by International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), a United Nations Body, it has prescribed that member countries like the Philippines must issue Machine Readable Passports, effective 1 April 2010.
The MRP has a machine readable zone (MRZ) containing a data summary of the passport holder that could easily be checked by a machine or passport reader at the ports of entry, thus facilitating the evaluation of the passport and visa.
For information, there is also a DFA Consular Team detailed at the POEA in Manila that processes MRP applicants from overseas Filipinos.
